Welcome aboard fellow adventurers!

This is the Humble Traveller, your one-stop shop for travel stories, stunning adventure photography, useful tips on the road and a laugh or two at my expense! Join me as I hop on motorbikes, tuk-tuks, buses, boats, trains and even planes (hey, sometimes you gotta fly!) to discover iconic landmarks and experiences you will only have when you take the path less travelled.

My recent experiences in Southeast Asia include; riding as a pillion on a motorbike going the wrong way up a busy five-lane highway in Hanoi, watching a spectacular sunset above the clouds at the summit of Mt. Fansipan, and shorly after – sitting cross-legged in a traditional wooden barrel herbal bubble bath.

I dodged chickens, stray dogs, buffalo, and little children on a three-day motorbike loop in the mountainous regions of Ha Giang (North Vietnam), zip-lined over one of the largest limestone forests in all of Asia, and sampled freshly hand-picked and roasted coffee beans at a homestay on the Bolaven Plateau (Laos). I sampled countless traditional dishes, ate ants, crickets, beetles, along with other things I’m still unsure about was subsequently hospitalized three times with the treacherous “Delhi belly.”

Lastly, I attended an alms giving ceremony (Laos), I swam in beautiful fresh water blue lagoons (Laos), caught a majestic sunrise over the temples of Angkor Wat (Cambodia), I volunteered at an NGO English teaching school for underprivileged children, attended a beautiful traditional two-day Khmer wedding, and shortly afterward, paid my respects at an unexpected funeral.

I’ve got a story or two to tell and I hope they inspire the Humble Traveller in you!

Thanks for viewing my blog, I hope to see you on the road! – Frazer Alexander
